These photos were taken on Saturday, 25th April 2015, at the unveiling of a memorial in memory the crew of a Wellington bomber that crashed into a cottage at Farnley Tyas in 1942.

Veteran Frank Smith, who is also vice president of the Huddersfield branch of the RAFA, organised the event and invited a party of Huddersfield and District Veterans to attend.

The aircraft took off from Breighton near Selby at 7.20pm on the night of February 17, 1942. It flew south but as it turned and headed north to return to the Yorkshire airfield, the Wellington lost height and crashed into a cottage and a wooded area on the edge of the village at 10.20pm.

Sadly all six airmen on board lost their lives as a result of the accident.
